Andrew Loechner , State Commissioner announced the Drifton
Softball Complex has been renamed the A S A 0f Pa. Jake Kislan Softball Complex.
The name change was approved by the executive board of directors
Of the Amateur Softball Association of Pennsylvania at the recent
Hall of Fame Banquet in York, PA.
Luzerne County Commissioners granted the A S A 0f Pa. Jake Kislan Softball Complex a $750,000 Grant.
Governor Ed Rendell also provided a $150,000 Grant to the A S A 0f Pa. Jake Kislan Softball Complex
Pete Andrasko ,Complex Director, stated that the money was used for new field lighting, new fencing, new scoreboards, new building, up grating infields and parking lot.
During the present year the Drifton Classic league will only play at the complex. Kislan opened the complex for tournament play the first week in August for the Keystone Games, second week for the NASF 18 UN Girls Fast Pitch Worlds Series. Labor Day NASF Men 10 player Modified Class A. World Series.
Andy Loechner A S A State Commissioner and ISF Secretary General stated that in 2005 the Drifton Complex will again host A S A championship tournaments and the Complex will also host teams from Europe. He stated that the Polish and Italian national teams will appear at the complex. He stated that ISF clinics will be also be held at the complex.

Location & Facilities: Located in the Village of Drifton, Pa, the complex consists of four lighted fields, a restaurant, sports shop, restroom facilities, paved walkways, and an ample area for parking.
Directions: The complex is located seven miles northeast of Hazleton, just off Route 940 and is less than 10 miles from the intersection of Routes 80 and 81. Termed "The crossroads of the East," 80 and 81 provides quick access for competing teams and fans.
History: Since 1982, on every weekend from the middle of May to the end of September District, State and Regional Tournaments have been held at the Complex. Among the major events held at the complex since 1982 have been:
1983- An appearance by Ty Stoffet, rated the World's top left- handed pitcher and the No. one hurler for the 1976 world champion Rising Sun Team.
1984-All Armed Forces men's and women's teams.
1985-Eddie Feigner and the King and His Court.
1987- Men Of Steele, National slow pitch champions.
1988-Kids and Kubs from St. Petersburg, Florida; Granddads of softball; Rose Black and the Queen and Her Court.
1990-Two ASA National Tournaments, the first ever in this area.
1993-ASA Women's National Modified Tournament; Eastern States Industrial States Men's and Women's tournaments
1997-North American Sports Federation Women's Fast Pitch World Series Tournaments
1998 NASF 16/U Girls fast pitch World Series Tournament; ASA National Invitational Tournament 10 player Modified "B". Teams from (8) eight states competed in this tournament
- 2003- Loechner appoints Jake Kislan to USA Softball Olympic Committee
- 2007 jake Kislan inducted into MMI's "Wall Of Fame"
2008 Jake Kislan, founder and Executive Director of ASA of PA Jake Kislan Softball Complex, PASSED AWAY. Jake was 70 years old and will be fondly remembered by all who loved and played the great game of softball. RI.P. Jake!!

1988- Ramaz Goglidze, President of the USSR Baseball and Softball Federation and Prime Minister of Sports in the Province of Georgia, visited the complex. The Georgia Province produced 80 percent of the Soviet winners in the Olympic Games. As he was departing Drifton, Goglidze said that his goal was to build a similar complex in Georgia.
1990- Gov. Robert Casey visited the complex and was greeted by a large contingent of union officials , members and their families, in addition to numerous softball
1994, Jake Kislan was asked by Andy Loechner , sec’t general of the USA Olympic committee to help get the game of softball started in the country of Poland. Jake raised over $80,000 of softball equipment that was sent to the softball officials of Poland. This was done with the help of the Greater Hazleton area Polonaise Society.
1996- US Olympic Girls Softball Team played four games in June , just prior to the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta. This very team went on to capture a gold medal. This sporting spectacle proved to be the greatest sporting event ever held in the Greater Hazleton Area.
2000- US Olympic Girls Softball Team played two games in June , just prior to the 2000 Summer Olympics held in Australia. The team again went on to capture a gold medal. Once again, this sporting spectacle proved to be one of the greatest sporting events ever held in the Greater Hazleton Area.

Tom Matchick played with the Detroit Tigers World Series Championship team. Tom also played in the Hazleton-Freeland FP league while in high school.
